Active carbon filter is a kind of water treatment equipment that utilizes the adsorption of active carbon to purify water. The husk activated carbon inside the stainless steel filter can absorb the solvable impurities in water, and effectively wipe off the organic matter, chemical hazardous substances and chloride ion in water, which can protect RO membrane from being damaged by free chlorine and remove the off-tastes and odors, thus improving the water quality and taste. The organic matter density is less than 1mg/L.

Adsorption Principle of Active Carbon
A layer of balanced surface concentration forms on the particle surface of active carbon, and then organic matter impurities are absorbed into the active carbon particles. As time goes on, the absorption capacity of active carbon will weaken and the absorption effect will reduce accordingly. Besides, the absorption capacity of active carbon is in direct proportion to its contact time with water. The longer the contact time is, the better the filtered water quality is.

In water quality pretreatment system, active carbon filter can absorb the residual chlorine that can not be removed in former-stage filtration, to prevent reverse osmosis membrane from being oxidized by it in latter filtration. Besides, active carbon filter can also absorb small organic molecules and other polluting substances leaked out from the former-stage filtration, as well as wipe off the colloids, coloring matters and heavy metal ion in water. As a result, the SDI is reduced to less than 5 and the TOC is less than 2.Oppm.

About SYS-3 Active Carbon Filter
SYS-3 active carbon filter is a kind of stainless steel active carbon filter whose diameter is 600mm. There is husk activated carbon inside the filter.
Active carbon filter is used to absorb the residual chlorine, organic matters, some coloring matters, and hazardous substances in raw water, and to reduce COD.
The filtering height is usually higher than or equal to 1200mm. Under normal working condition, the total water output is 4m3/hr and the effluent quality SDI is not more than 4.
The design current velocity is 10m/h.
This active carbon filter is fitted with backwashing control valve, to achieve manual back washing.
