Reverse Osmosis
Semi-permeable membrane separates solution from pure solvent, and due to the concentration gradient, pure solvent will diffuse towards solution. This is the osmosis. If external pressure is added on solution and the pressure larger than osmotic pressure, the solvent in solution will flow towards pure solvent, separating the solute from solvent. This is the reverse osmosis.
Using reverse osmosis membrane separation technique, reverse osmosis device can not only separate solute from water, but also separate and condense heat sensitive materials. However, the feed water should meet the conditions that the silt density index is not more than 5, the turbidity is less than 1.0NTU, and there is no residual chloride or similar oxide.
Reverse osmosis devices are widely used in electronics, chemical engineering, printing, pharmacy, and drinking water fields.
Basis for Reverse Osmosis Desalination
Semi-permeable membrane enjoys selective permeability. Water can permeate through the membrane while salt can not.
The impressed pressure difference between brine compartment and fresh water compartment is larger than osmotic pressure difference, which drives water to move from brine compartment to fresh water compartment.
Inorganic ions, viruses, organic matters, colloids and other impurities in water can be removed from water by using reverse osmosis technique, and thus high quality purified water can be obtained.
Characteristics of Reverse Osmosis Device
RO device is the most important part in the water purification system. It can remove most of inorganic salts, and almost all the organic matters and microbes in water.
During the separation process, there is no phase change or environmental pollution. RO device is small in size and is characterized by high desalination rate. Besides, the automatic control operation can be realized easily.
The RO membrane in reverse osmosis device is the spiral-wound polyamide composite membrane made by Hydranautics. The average desalination rate of a single membrane is over 98%.
Our RO device is designed based on the content characteristics of various substances in water, our RO aided design software and rich engineering experience. It enjoys a long service life.
Beside, our reverse osmosis system is fitted with automatic flushing device and pharmaceutical irrigation device to wash off the contamination and guarantee the high efficient water treatment performance of the system.
Taking RO-3 Reverse Osmosis Device as an Example
RO-3 reverse osmosis device is fitted with 6 pieces of 2 core 4” pressure membrane tubes and 12 ESPA2-4040 composite reverse osmosis membranes produced by Hydranautics Company. The water inflow is 4m3/h. The operating pressure is 0.8-1.5MPa. The water yield is 3m3/h and the concentrated water discharge is 1m3/h and the desalination rate is above 98%.
The quality of yielding water is monitored on line and displayed by conductivity meter.
